FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

 Does PIP-MHC accept insurance?

We do NOT work with any insurance companies. We are strictly Private Pay. When it comes to mental health, insurance companies tend to be intrusive and put too many restrictions on frequency/ quantity of visits, time per visit, etc. Instead, we focus on the best solution as decided collaboratively by the therapist and the patient. You can, of course, consider submitting to your insurance company for reimbursement; if there is anything, we can provide to assist you with this, just let us know. We have grave concerns, however, in divulging this information to your insurance company.

What are the fees at PIP-MHC?

Every patient has different circumstances, and our fees may vary based on many factors. Dr. Salomon’s fees generally range from $350 per 45 minute session for regular Clinical Psychotherapy to about $500 per session for Forensic work. Please call us at 602-870-0991 to discuss your situation. We do offer some limited services on a modified sliding scale basis.

What makes PIP-MHC an “institute”?

We are an “institute” because we have a training arm known as ACCPT-G, which is the Arizona Community Clinical Psychology Training – Group. We are experienced in the training of early mental health professionals in psychoanalytic therapy/assessment and existential-humanistic therapy/assessment.

How long does therapy take to work?

Everyone has different circumstances, so it’s impossible to say without discussing a plan with your therapist. Often, the first eight to ten sessions or eight to ten weeks, whichever is longer, are used as an assessment period. After that point, a recommended treatment plan and a time estimate is discussed.

What makes Dr. Salomon’s approach unique?

Dr. Salomon’s style has evolved over the 45 years of his practice as a Clinical Psychologist. He integrates his early training in Freudian Psychoanalysis with Contemporary Childhood experiences, dream interpretation, family dynamics, fantasies, and the primacy of emotional experiences all come together to form the causal level of a person’s personality. Dr. Salomon addresses not just the symptoms that a patient is experiencing, but the cause(s) of those symptoms; this approach allows the patient and doctor to accomplish goals that are set together. This form of therapy is open-ended, and Dr. Salomon works with each person as long as is needed. Dr. Salomon includes other approaches and techniques when he feels that they might be useful, including cognitive-behavioral, Gestalt, and client-centered approaches.

How frequent are Psychotherapy Sessions?

Psychotherapy is an open-ended process that depends on the quality of the relationship between the patient and the therapist. If one is doing psychoanalytic therapy, ie: insight-oriented therapy, the patient and therapist need to meet at least once a week for regularity and continuity. Often, twice per week sessions are preferred. Progress in therapy is very dependent on regularity and continuity. We still know very little about how the unconscious works, however, based on my over 45 years’ experience, I believe that weekly sessions are imperative for the integration of unconscious and conscious processes.
